JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Action News is talking to a local pawn shop who says a family of suspects tied to a police shooting pawned items earlier this week.

Wednesday afternoon a police officer was shot inside the Big Cash Pawn store. Police say they were looking for a family of thieves, suspected of stealing items then pawning them off to stores all up and down Beach Blvd. "We know they pawned 60 items since the first of the month," said Chief Annie Smith with JSO.

Jeremy Cottrill says the suspects were in his store just down the street on Monday. "The family came in Monday and had quite a good amount of gold they were looking to sell," said Cottrill.

He says they made two transactions in two different names then left in the same type of car our cameras caught parked outside the crime scene. "One was in the daughter's name. The other in the mother's. They left happy because they got a good amount of money," said Cottrill.

Police say they check the system for frequent pawners in the city and came across these names. One employee we talked with says just says he would've never suspected anything was going on. "It seemed like a friendly, happy go lucky family," said Cottrill.

JSO is expected to release more details on Thursday. The suspects' names have not been released. The officer, J.C. Prentice, was treated at the crime scene and is now on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
