CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A local trooper is on the road, riding his bicycle to Washington to honor a local detective killed in the line of duty.

Trooper Jose Medina left early Monday on a bicycle ride from Green Cove Springs through seven states to honor Detective David White, a Clay County detective shot and killed at a meth house in Middleburg.

Trooper Medina says he is riding approximately 1100 miles, not just to honor Detective White, but to honor the 125 other law enforcement officers that gave the ultimate sacrifice in 2012.

Along with the bike ride, Trooper Medina set up an online fund for donations to help fallen law enforcement officers. The money will be given to Law Enforcement United, Inc.
