Man found guilty in bar shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man has been found guilty in a bar shooting in April 2011.

After a two-day trial that began on Wednesday, a jury found 27-year-old Torrence Alvin Denegal guilty of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and aggravated battery with a firearm. 

Denegal shot Robert Lee Durden in a Palatka bar over an ongoing dispute between their families. Denegal's 5-year-old nephew was accidentally struck by a car that Durden's wife was driving. Denegal walked into the Spurs Saloon at 923 St. Johns Ave. and started firing. Police had said at the time that Durden, was shot at least four times and a woman nearby got hit with a stray bullet.

Denegal faces a minimum mandatory of 25 years in prison, pursuant to the 10-20-Life law. Denegal's sentencing hearing is January 8, 2013.
