NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- A jury has convicted James Turnage of second degree murder for the killing of a Nassau County father.

Turnage was also convicted of grand theft auto.

Police in New Jersey arrested James Turnage while he was driving a stolen car that belonged to Kirk Westfall. The arrest came just a few days after Westfall's family reported him missing from his home in Yulee.

Westfall's body was later found by a hunter in a patch of woods in South Carolina. The discovery happened on Christmas Eve in 2010, a few months after Westfall disappeared.

Friends and family say Westfall became a victim of his own generosity. They believe he was killed while trying to help Turnage. Before the murder, Westfall allowed Turnage to live in a camper on his property because Turnage was down on his luck.
