KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Fla. -- Detectives now say four teens are under investigation for a confrontation with a 72-year-old property owner in Keystone Heights.
The Clay County Sheriff's Office said James Deleruyelle was checking on a barn on his property near 6300 Swarthmore Drive, just off County Road 214.
The property owner confronted the teens at the barn, getting into a fight with one of them. During the fight, deputies said the property owner's shotgun went off, injuring his hands.
One of the teens was shot and taken to UF Health Shands Gainesville by helicopter, according to investigators. A second teen was treated for minor injuries due to shrapnel from the shotgun.
The two other teens were questioned and released to their parents. Investigators initially thought three teens were involved until they found one teen hiding in the bushes.
The investigation was hindered Wednesday afternoon by severe weather.
