JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hundreds lined up the streets of downtown to see the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade.

The parade started at the Jacksonville Federal Reserve building on the corner or Jefferson and Waters Streets and continued its usual route.

The event had a rocky start as the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office evacuated the area in front of the Jacksonville Landing after finding a black suitcase. The owner was later located and parade-watchers were able to return to that section of the parade route.

Governor Rick Scott joined in on the festivities as he and Mayor Alvin Brown walked along the route shaking hands with parade goers.

The parade ends at Metropolitan Park where the celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continued with 'GospelFest.'

Three-time Grammy award winning gospel singer, Cece Winans, is headlining the event.
