ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The medical examiner has identified remains found in Flagler County as those belonging to Barbara Parchem, and that she died of blunt force trauma.

Parchem vanished April 5.  Police did a search around her home and there were no signs of any problems. Days later, Parchem's daughter told us something wasn't right.

It was another three weeks until Sheriff David Shoar said Parchem's disappearance was suspicious. Just four days after that human remains were found in Flagler County.

We asked the sheriffs office why it took so long to declare foul play when the undersheriff said he suspected Parchem's body could've been there for weeks.

"Every case is different. We didn't have other pieces of the puzzle to lead us that way," said Chuck Mulligan with the sheriff's office.

While its not the outcome anyone wanted, Parchem's co-workers are glad they have some closure.

"For them to find her as fast as did after released that's the best they could do," said GM of the Village Inn Matt Gleason.

Workers put up a sign on the front door to remember her.  It reads, "In loving memory of Lil' Barb."

A person of interest has been identified in the case, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. No one has been arrested.
