JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A young victim's mother is still searching for answers after police say her daughter was "forcibly detained" and "sexually assaulted," by 22-year-old Travis Maye and 20-year-old Steven Pender and three teens.
"Why would you do something to a little girl like that," she said. "It's just sick, it's disgusting."
She says her 13-year-old daughter trusted one of the teenaged boys who brought her to the neighborhood where she was allegedly gang raped.
"I think my daughter thought that she was going to hang out with a boy she thought was cute and her age and one thing turned to another and I don't think she realized what was going to happen," she said.
She tells us the incident has scarred her daughter for life.
"She's real hurt over it. I don't think she'll want to talk to another boy in a long time."
The suspects face sexual battery and false imprisonment charges.
Maye and Pender are due back in court at the end of the month.
