Motorcyclist killed in crash with moving truck

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A motorcyclist is dead after an accident involving a moving truck.

The accident happened Thursday night on the northbound lanes of U.S. 1 South near Interstate 95. A moving truck was backing into a driveway when one motorcyclist slammed into it. A second motorcyclist managed to swerve and avoid hitting the truck.

The motorcyclist that hit the truck, 49-year-old James Convertito, was killed in the accident. He was not wearing a helmet. The second motorcycle rider and the truck driver had only minor injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office are investigating the accident.
