BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- Action News is uncovering more details about the man suspected of killing 22-year-old Amber Whited from a close friend who spoke only to Action News.
The Brunswick mother's body was found Sunday night, five days after she disappeared.
Violence is something 20-year-old Raymond Michael Brasiel is no stranger to. Action News' Alyana Gomez spoke exclusively to one of his ex-girlfriends who tells us he's been using drugs and has gotten into a number of fights. However, this is his first time being charged with murder.
"I knew he was capable of doing damage but never in my life thought he would be able to kill somebody," she said.
Fearing the consequences, the woman would only speak to Action News, if we concealed her identity.
"I'm scared for my life that he will just bust out of jail or something," she said.
She tells us Brasiel called her Thursday night, a couple of hours before he allegedly stabbed two people, killing one of them, and two days after Amber's disappearance. She says he was venting about how his girlfriend just broke up with him because she found out he was doing drugs again.
"I actually put two and two together that he told me that he was with a female around my age with two kids and then I was reading all the articles that had been posted on Facebook and I kinda figured it out that it might have been Amber that he was dating," she explained.
Action News asked if the accused killer sounded like he was on drugs when he called her Thursday, and she replied yes.
Brasiel had his first court appearance Monday afternoon, where he seemed agitated about his interrogations with police, after hearing Judge Timothy Barton say he had a right not to talk to police without an attorney present.
"I already done that twice, they investigated me...," said Brasiel before he was cut off by Judge Barton, "I'm just telling you your rights."
On his way out, he nearly fell to the ground, and had to be guided out of the courtroom by deputies.
According to Brasiel's ex-girlfriend, this wasn't his first time inside a courtroom. She tells Action News he spent time in jail for his last charge.
"He was arrested not long before this for having everything in his vehicle to make meth," she said.
While Brasiel hasn't been charged for Amber Whited's murder just yet, police believe they have their guy.
He's facing capital murder in the stabbing death of a Glynn County man, and aggravated assault with intent for murder, for the woman who survived the stabbing. She is recovering in a Savannah hospital.
Brasiel is due back in court next Friday August 2nd.
