Plane crash lands in St. Johns River
PALATKA, Fla. -- A plane made a crash landing Tuesday evening in the St. Johns River.
The pilot Lindsay A. Weaver Jr., 60, and passenger Joscelyn Blumenthal, 43, escaped and were taken to Putnam Community Hospital with minor injuries.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a Cessna seaplane flown by Weaver had just taken off from the Palatka airport and was trying to make a routine landing on the St. Johns River.
FHP says the plane's landing gear had been left down causing the plane to flip as it landed in the water.
