JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have arrested a suspect in a fatal road rage shooting.

Investigators say Israel Kevin Williams, 41, shot and killed Tomas Schadowsky Wednesday night near a gas station on Dunn Avenue.

Police say the two got into a verbal fight while pumping gas.

Investigators say Williams pulled over and waited for Schadowsky to pull out of the parking lot when he shot him.

Police were looking for an orange-colored SUV. A tip led to Williams' car.

"Israel Williams went to the drivers license bureau in Nassau county and had his license plates changed," said Lt. Rob Schoonover. "He obtained new plates. The old plates were the Florida A&M tag which is what we were looking for."

Police detained Williams yesterday. Investigators say he admitted to everything but the shooting.

Police say he lives blocks away from the gas station, and they believe he saw coverage of the killing on the news and tried to cover his tracks by changing out his license plates.

Williams has been charged with murder and throwing deadly missiles into a dwelling/vehicle.

Investigators are looking for the murder weapon.
