Police identify woman found murdered in cemetery
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police have identified a woman found dead in Restlawn Memorial Park.JSO says the call came in around 4:16 p.m. on Sunday after someone in the cemetery spotted the body located underneath a tree.
The victim, identified as 34-year-old Keisha Murray, was found wearing a yellow dress.
Osborne Hall lives just blocks away from Restlawn Memorial Park. He says the cemetery is the final resting place of several of his relatives.
"My brother, my uncle, my cousin. I've got a lot of relatives in there," said Hall.
According to Hall, he was not surprised to see so much police activity because the cemetery gates are open at all hours of the night.
"If they keep it closed nobody would drive up in there but people come in and out of the place all the time," said
The medical examiner is working to identify the body and determine the cause of death. Police say it's possible the woman may not have been in the cemetery for long.
According to JSO, they're ruling out any connection to Saturday's possible abduction case in Downtown Jacksonville.
"We have a complete description of the woman this morning and there is no clothing description that matches. She doesn't match the physical description," said Sgt. TK Waters.
According to JSO, they're combing through the missing persons database to see if the woman's description matches an existing case. If you have any information that could help police solve this crime you're asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
