Police officer seriously injured while jogging
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A St. Augustine police officer was seriously injured Friday evening along S. Whitney Street after being struck by a vehicle, according to the St. Johns County Sherriff’s Office.
Police tell Action News Richard Warner, 44, was jogging when a Kia, driven by Travis Chidester, 33, struck the off-duty officer.
Warner was transported to Flagler Hospital by ambulance before being flown to UF & Shands Hospital in Jacksonville with serious injuries, according to first responders.
Deputies are still trying to determine how the crash happened.
