JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jay Asian Taste is located on Bowden Road in Jacksonville. The state health inspector found 22 violations at the restaurant. Twelve of them were high priority, meaning they could make you sick.
Here's what we uncovered in the report.
Chicken, beef, pork, and shrimp all thrown out by the manager due to temperature abuse.
An employee who washed their hands with gloves on.
Live, small flying insects were found in the sushi area.
Dead roaches were found by the sushi area.
Dead roaches were found accumulating in a trap.
We spoke to both the general manager and the owner of Jay Asian Taste.
The general manager, Danny, told us, "I think we make some mistakes. We can do better. All of the problems have been fixed. we Hired Orkin for the roaches. I'm going to call them tomorrow. When we close at eleven we don't have a roach problem... only sometimes."
Owner, May Lee told us her customers are her first priority. She says, "We need to serve you guys better. The customer is our most important thing and without the customer we would not be here."
Here are the other restaurants at the top of the list this week for high priority violations.
Hop Shing on Atlantic Boulevard in Atlantic Beach had 10 high priority violations including dead roaches. Huddle House #146 in Fernandina Beach had 9 high priority violations including a repeat violation of fruit flies.
