LAKE CITY, Fla. -- The Lake City Police Department says one man is dead and two men are in jail after a shooting at the Wayne Drive Apartments in Lake City Friday night.

Public information officer Steve Shaw with the police department says 31-year-old Carlos Williams, of Lake City, was found with gunshot wounds at 1442 NW Wayne Place after police got an anonymous call about gunshots at 6:42 p.m.

Shaw says when police arrived at the scene neighbors in the complex directed them to Williams and pointed out the vehicle the shooters were seen leaving in.

The responding officers began to chase a white Acura the suspects carjacked at gunpoint, according to Shaw.

He says La'Quanza Gee, 28, of Live Oak, and Leonard Goodman, 32, of Jacksonville, led officers with the LCPD and the Columbia County Sheriff's office on a chase through the county.

Deputies eventually used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (P.I.T.) maneuver to end the chase and take the two men into custody.

Police say they found a bag of cocaine inside the car weighing close to 200 grams, with a street value of over $20,000.

Williams was taken to the Lake City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from the gunshot wounds.

Shaw says there is an ongoing investigation into this incident.
