Snow flurries reported in southern Georgia

Alma, Ga. -- The National Weather Service reports that snow flurries were spotted in parts of Bacon County in southern Georgia Sunday morning.

Action News meteorologist Julie Watkins says it will be another cold night with lows in the mid to upper 20s. Widespread frost is likely by Monday morning.

Snowfall is a rare event in southern Georgia and northern Florida.

According to the NWS, the largest snowfall that was ever recorded at the official measuring site at the Jacksonville International Airport was 1.9” on February 13, 1899.
