JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police used tear gas to bring a peaceful end to a standoff at the Regency Place Apartment complex this afternoon.

A man wanted for attempted murder is in custody. Police went to serve a warrant around six o-clock this morning, but Edwards Hicks refused to come out of one of the apartments.

Eight hours later, SWAT team members toss tear gas into the apartment. Hicks then surrendered to police.

Hicks is wanted for attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in relation to an incident that happened on May 7 at the Canterbury Apartments.
