DUNNELLON, Fla. -- A teenager was killed Friday evening after being ejected from the back of a pickup truck, during a two-vehicle crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP reports that Kyle Eugene Lay, 17, was riding in the bed of the 1990 Ford Ranger when it was struck on its side by a car driven by 75-year-old Joseph Minieri near the Wal-Mart along Southwest 95th Circle.

The crash report states the impact ejected Lay from the pickup and into a tree.

Lay was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead according to authorities.

Both of the drivers involved in the crash were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Minieri was charged with running a red light according to troopers.
