JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police say a man shot two people that he thought were attempting to break into his Westside home.

Police were called to a home on Birds Nest Lane after a resident shot one man and grazed another.

Police say the home has been burglarized twice recently, so when two window repairmen began their work Wednesday afternoon, the resident grabbed a gun and fired multiple shots toward the window.

Police say the initial investigation leads them to believe the man didn't know the work was scheduled.

"One of the residents of the home was leaving at the time the repairmen showed up," said Detective C.D. Lee, "and that person spoke briefly with the repairmen."

Neighbors confirm to Action News that multiple burglaries have occurred in the Blue Jay Ridge neighborhood in recent weeks.

One of the victims was taken to UF and Shands Jacksonville with non-life threatening injuries. The other was not transported.

Police say charges are pending further investigation. A family friend tells Action News no arrests have been made.
