JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Crime scene tape surrounded the home of Marilyn Alu for a third day. The serenity of her quiet East Arlington neighborhood was shattered when neighbors learned the 71-year-old woman had been murdered.
Police were called to Swimming Salmon Place on Sunday, when Alu's daughter found her mother dead.
"The autopsy did reveal that she was murdered," said Lt. Rob Schoonover with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Detectives aren't saying how Alu was killed.
"The only one who knows that is the person that we're looking for," said Schoonover.
Neighbors remain uneasy, saying they can't imagine why anyone would hurt such a nice lady.
"That's terrifying really, if you think about it," said neighbor Kenneth Geiger.
JSO said it's working leads, but so far, investigators have not yet named a suspect.
Anyone with information about Alu's murder slaying is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
You will remain anonymous and you could be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
