ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man who raped an 82-year-old woman will spend the next 25 years in prison.
Dominic Reed, 45, pleaded guilty earlier this week to raping the woman while armed with a deadly weapon. He also pleaded guilty to burglary, for forcing his way into her apartment at the Salvation Army Towers and attacking her.
"Do you wish to say anything?" Circuit Judge Jenifer Davis asked Reed, just before sentencing him.
"I'd just like to say I'm sorry," said Reed.
Reed left court with his head down. He did not look toward the victim or her family, who were sitting in the back of the courtroom.
Orlando police said Reed got past the security desk at the Salvation Army Towers in April and made his way to the woman's apartment.
Police made a quick arrest in the case after matching his fingerprints to prints found on the bicycle he left behind at the building.
