Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Todd Monken, Oklahoma State's offensive coordinator, is expected to be named the next head football coach at Southern Miss, according to a report in the Hattiesburg American.

Monken would take over for the fired Ellis Johnson, who was let go immediately following a disastrous 0-12 mark in his lone season at the helm.

Southern Miss hadn't finished with a losing record since going 3-7-1 in 1993 and went without a victory for the first time since an 0-6 mark in 1925.

Monken was Oklahoma State's offensive coordinator when the Cowboys set numerous records in 2011, and helped the program to a 7-5 record and a trip to the Heart Of Dallas Bowl this season.

The Illinois native previously spent four years as a wide receivers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars and was LSU's passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach from 2005-06.
