College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Thomas Johnson has been missing since Monday and police are actively searching for him.

Texas A&M put out a release on Wednesday stating that Johnson was last seen leaving his residence in College Station on Monday around 5 p.m. local time.

Johnson is from the Dallas area and may have traveled there.

"All of us are obviously very concerned about the safety and well-being of Thomas Johnson, who has been missing since Monday evening. Authorities are working closely with his family, friends and law enforcement agencies to help locate him," said Aggies football coach Kevin Sumlin in a statement on the school's website.

"Thomas is a tremendous student-athlete, greatly admired by his fellow teammates and all of us on the coaching staff. If anyone has any current information about him or knows of his whereabouts, please contact his family or law enforcement authorities immediately. We pray for his quick and safe return."

Johnson is third on the team with 30 catches for 339 yards for the ninth- ranked Aggies, who are coming off 29-24 upset of then top-ranked Alabama.
