Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers made a slew of roster moves on Tuesday, including the placement of safety Sherrod Martin and defensive end Antwan Applewhite on season-ending injured reserve.

Martin was put on the shelf one day after a diagnosis of a torn medial collateral ligament and anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in a loss Sunday at Kansas City.

The fourth-year pro out of Troy finishes the year with 23 tackles and one forced fumble in 12 games.

Applewhite was sidelined by a bothersome hamstring injury which has limited his effectiveness. The San Diego State product and Los Angeles native concludes his 2012 season with just six tackles in five games.

Carolina also waived offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges, promoted running back Armond Smith and offensive lineman Thomas Austin from the practice squad to the active roster, and signed defensive end Mario Addison from the Washington Redskins' practice squad.

Bridges played in just two games this season, his first with the Panthers after three with the Arizona Cardinals. A 32-year-old native of Indiana, Bridges has played 10 NFL seasons, with a previous stint in Carolina from 2006-08.
