JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--Action Sports is handicapping the search for the third head coach in Jacksonville Jaguars history. Brent Martineau and I take a daily look at the situation and lay it all out here for your consumption. Brent is on board the Rob Chudzinski train. Likes what he did with Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers as the offensive coordinator. Brent says he is hearing that "Chud" will get a second interview.
I'm thinking Mel Tucker has a good grip on what the Jaguars need to do to get better. Tucker has five games under his belt as the interim head coach. Tuck went (2-3) in those games, winning the ones he was supposed and losing the ones where the Jags were the underdog.
Mike McCoy makes the latest move to the top after Denver's win over Pittsburgh in the playoffs. His game plan helped Tebow to the highest QB rating in the playoffs since 2008. Mike Mularkey has two seasons and a (14-18) record as a head coach of Buffalo under his belt, but the Falcons offense laid an egg in the playoff loss to Tom Coughlin and the NY Giants. They didn't score a point and failed on two 4th down attempts.
For his part Mr. Khan is keeping a low profile releasing a statement that says: "the business of finding the right man for the Jaguars comes first and we will continue to refrain from comment on the search until we make an announcement of a hire."
