Beach leads UNF to rout of USC Upstate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Freshman Beau Beech tied season highs with 17 points and five 3-pointers to lead North Florida over Atlantic Sun Conference foe South Carolina Upstate 77-53 Saturday.


Beach was 6-of-9 shooting, hitting his treys on seven attempts and adding six rebounds. Parker Smith was 3-of-5 from 3-point range and scored 15 points and David Jeune added 12 for the Ospreys (12-17, 7-9), who hit 52.4 percent (11 of 21) from 3-point range.


The win was the 56th for this year's North Florida seniors, which is the most by any class in school history, surpassing the 2004 and 2005 classes.


Ricardo Glenn scored 16 points to lead the Spartans (14-16, 8-9). Torrey Craig entered averaging 18 points and 13 rebounds in his past two games, but scored 13 points with six rebounds Saturday as SC Upstate dropped its fifth consecutive road conference game and sixth in its past seven overall.
