JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The months of momentum came to a screeching halt on Tuesday when word spread that Justin Blackmon was suspended by the NFL for the first four games of the season.

It certainly was a buzzkill, but I'm not buying the idea that this ends the Jacksonville Jaguars energy and optimism of the offseason.

The Blackmon news is a big deal and disappointing, but the Jaguars have done too many things right for one guy to  depress the fan base all the way into October.

This weekend the rookies that made up a very successful first draft for Dave Caldwell and one of the top undrafted free agent classes in the NFL will take the field.  The Jags offset the Blackmon news by making all three practices open to the public.

Jags fans will get to see the building blocks of the future on display including Ace Sanders and Denard Robinson - two potential receivers and playmakers.  They are two players that may play a key role in filling in while Justin Blackmon serves his suspension.

This new Jags movement is still about the future and about progress, but that journey isn't a paved road to the top of the mountain.  Instead, this new regime and many new players now get a chance to trump adversity and hope Justin Blackmon jumps back on board the Gus Bus.
