Elam honored for play against Missouri

GAINESVILLE, Fla. Matt Elam led the Gators’ defensive effort against Missouri on Saturday as he recorded six tackles, including two tackles for loss, and an interception he returned for 47 yards. On the season for the Orange and Blue, Elam has recorded 47 tackles, including six for loss, one sack, three interceptions and a fumble recovery.  Elam is one of 16 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award, which honors the nation’s most outstanding defensive collegiate player.

Each week during the 2012 college football season the Maxwell Football Club (MFC) will select a Player of the Week in recognition of outstanding performance in the previous weekend's games. There will be winners selected for both the Maxwell Award and Chuck Bednarik Award presented by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

University of Florida junior defensive back Matt Elam (Palm Beach Gardens) has been named the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week, announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday.
