ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) - Matthew Hezekiah's tip-in with one second left Wednesday night gave South Carolina State a 74-72 victory over Jacksonville in a nonconference thriller.

The tip-in by the 6-foot-11 Hezekiah, after a missed layup by Adama Adams, denied a furious last-minute comeback by the Dolphins (3-5). Jacksonville got three 3-point baskets in the final minute, the first and third by Dylan Fritsch (14 points) to tie it at 72-all. The Dolphins had fallen behind 45-30 at halftime.

The Bulldogs (4-3) jumped out to a 17-9 lead. They went up 25-12 midway through the half, leading by as many as 17 points.

For South Carolina State, Adams (16 points) led three teammates in double figures. Patrick Myers scored 15 points, and Hezekiah and Darryl Palmer finished with 12 each.

Fritsch led Jacksonville with 14 points. Jarvis Haywood and Kordario Fleming added 13 each while Javon Dawson chipped in 10.
