JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- The Sunshine Soccer group is pursuing a professional soccer team for Jacksonville.  The team will come from NASL, the North American Soccer League.

On July 25 the NASL will host a board meeting on the expansion plan.  The meeting could result in the return of pro soccer to northeast Florida.

The CEO of the Sunshine Soccer Group is Mark Frisch.  He says the group's main goal is to bring soccer to the area.

Frisch has been joined by Dario Sala, a former professional goalie in the MLS who will serve as the group's president.

The success of 4 different soccer matches over the last 14 months has helped fuel speculation that pro soccer will be coming to Jacksonville.

There are options for a venue for the team, but Frisch says the ultimate goal is to bring a soccer-only stadium to Jacksonville.
