JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --The Jacksonville Jaguars made 13 roster moves today to reduce their roster to 75 players. Seventh-year long snapper Jeremy Cain was the only veteran released. Cornerback Jeremy Harris, 2013 seventh-round pick, was placed on injured reserve with a back injury.
Second-year guard Mark Asper was waived along with two first-year pros, punter Ken Parrish and cornerback Lionel Smith. There were also eight rookies waived including linebacker Maalik Bomar, linebacker Jeremiah Green, defensive end J.D. Griggs, defensive end Paul Hazel, long snapper Luke Ingram, wide receiver Jamal Miles, safety Ray Polk and offensive tackle Roderick Tomlin.
“This is never an easy day. Some tough decisions were made today,” Jaguars General Manager David Caldwell said. “These players all came in and competed every day and we appreciate all the work they put into the building of our team. We wish them nothing but the best in the future.”
NFL teams must reduce their roster to the league limit of 75 players by Tuesday, August 27 at 4 p.m. EDT. The Jaguars will close out the preseason when they play the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday.
