JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Sunday was not the best of days for the founding father of the Jay Fund Tom Coughlin, but he would have been smiling if he were at the Jacksonville Zoo.

The Jay Fund hosting their annual Fall Festival for 54 local families who have children battling cancer. There were games, chances to pet the little alligator, treasure chests with toys, and plenty of food before everyone was turned loose to see all the animals at the zoo.

Jay Fund Executive Director Keli Coughlin said it was the perfect day for families "who have doctors appointments, and non stop care for their kids to have just a normal day".  The Jay Fund is a local entity that helps families financially with children battling cancer. It was founded by Tom Coughlin in honor of a young man who played college football for him at Boston College, Jay McGillis, who eventually passed away due to cancer.

The Jay Fund has raised millions of dollars here in North Florida, for more information go to tcjayfund.org.
