JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A new season comes with some new challenges for the Jaguars young receivers. Jedd Fisch takes over as offensive coordinator giving the wideouts a new playbook to learn this offseason. Cecil Shorts III and Justin Blackmon are the nucleus of a group that now includes Jordan Shipley and Mohamed Massaquoi. Shorts came up just short of a thousand yard season and is excited about the new regime.
"I'm excited, Coach Bradley is a real energy guy, gave a great first impression (Tuesday) I think, he really did a great power point and showed a lot of enthusiasm so I think as a group we're all excited" says Shorts. With all the changes there are a lot of new faces around the facility but Shorts adds "When you bring in a new GM and new coach you expect them to bring in guys that they trust and they work with, to me it wasn't a big surprise, like I said it's part of the business you just have to be able to adjust."
Blackmon meanwhile is coming off an up and down rookie campaign that featured some flashes of his future potential. "I'm very excited, just to be back into football environment, back here with all the teammates and ready to get back to work" says Blackmon. The former Oklahoma State standout thinks his team will find a way to learn all of Fisch's offense adding "We're getting there, we kinda got the jist of what they want to do and all that, so right now it's just getting in and learning as fast as possible and taking everything we do in meetings and taking it to the field."
The team opens minicamp on April 16th and they'll pick up some new teammates when the NFL Draft begins April 25th.
