    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Neighbors are back inside their homes after military ordnance was found Tuesday afternoon in Mandarin.

Neighbors tell Action News Jax they were asked to leave for a few hours while the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office bomb squad investigated.

We asked JSO what exact device was found, but investigators said they couldn’t go into details.

JSO did say the military ordnance was found in a ditch by city workers who were cleaning the ditch.

Resident Brandy Neilson said she had a chance to talk to the city crew about what they found.

“They said they found a bomb and it was old and it had been here a long time. And I thought, ‘I lived in this house 40 years and I’ve been living with a bomb this entire time?’” Neilson said.

There is a school less than a quarter mile up the road, but JSO said the schools were not affected by the investigation.
